2021 Kia Seltos
The subcompact Kia Seltos sits in the lineup between the smaller Soul and the slightly larger Sportage. It's the newest addition to Kia's selection of crossover SUVs and features a boxy but sleek look and lots of equipment. The Seltos might fit in the subcompact segment, but it has two roomy rows of seats and a larger cargo area than other SUVs in the same class. Here's a look at the all-new 2021 Kia Seltos.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Seltos LX has 17-inch alloy wheels, a black grille, and keyless entry. The S adds LED daytime running lights, while a step up to the EX gets you a sunroof, heated side mirrors, and the option for the two-tone exterior paint scheme. The S Turbo comes with 18-inch wheels and has some changes to the exterior trim colors, while the SX Turbo adds LED headlights, LED fog lights, and the option for a sunroof.
Engine (Power)
The base powertrain for the Seltos is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine that develops 146 horsepower. It uses a continuously variable automatic transmission and comes standard with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is offered as an option. A 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder comes with the S Turbo and the SX Turbo. It puts out 175 horsepower and comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Performance
The Seltos is one of the most fuel-efficient subcompact SUVs on the road. The base engine with front-wheel drive will get up to 29 mpg city and get 34 mpg highway. The turbo engine is almost as efficient with 25 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The ride in the Seltos stays smooth over most roads, and it has a well-weighted steering system that makes it easy to handle and maneuver.
Interior
There's room for five in the Seltos. Behind the rear seats, you'll find a 26.6 cubic foot cargo area. These fold down flat, opening up 62.8 cubic feet of space. The S comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, synthetic leather upholstery, and the option for heated front seats with the all-wheel-drive system. The EX has a power-adjustable driver's seat, synthetic leather trim in the cabin, standard heated front seats, and rear air ducts. The S Turbo has all of these features and adds a cargo cover.
An 8-inch touch screen comes standard in the Seltos, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a USB port. The EX adds USB ports for the front and back, and it also adds a wireless charging pad. Step up to the SX Turbo for a 10.25-inch touch screen and an upgraded premium Bose stereo system.
Safety Features
Every Seltos comes standard with a safety suite that consists of several advanced driver aids, including forward collision warning, automatic braking, and a rearview camera. All but the base Seltos have a lane-keeping assist system, and the EX and above all have a blind-spot monitor, automatic high beam headlights, and rear cross-traffic alert. The top-level SX adds an adaptive cruise control system that will automatically adjust your speed to keep a consistent distance between the Seltos and the car in front of it.
