Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Forte FE comes with steel wheels, while a step up to the LXS adds 16-inch alloy wheels, black accents for the bumper and front grille, and a chrome exhaust tip. The sporty GT Line comes with a rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, LED taillights, and daytime running lights. It also has heated side door mirrors. A step up to the EX adds upgrades in the cabin and chrome exterior trim elements, while the GT bumps up the power and offers the option for a sunroof.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine for the 2021 Forte is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 147 horsepower. It uses front-wheel drive and comes with a six-speed manual transmission in the FE, while the rest of the trims get Kia's continuously variable automatic transmission. The Forte GT has a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine that generates 201 horsepower. It uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, but you can opt for a six-speed manual.
Performance
Kia tuned the Forte's engine for comfort. It has plenty of power for commuting up and down the highway and driving around town, but the turbo engine under the hood of the GT has the extra power you need for a more dynamic driving experience.
Interior
There's room for five in the Forte. The front seats have plenty of cushioning and are well-bolstered, and the rear seats have space for adults to sit comfortably. The cabin has cloth upholstery, power windows, and cruise control in the base trim, with a split-folding rear seat in the LXS. The GT Line adds sport front seats, simulated leather upholstery, and the option for a package with a power-adjustable driver's seat and LED lighting in the cabin. The EX comes with heated and ventilated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The technology features in the Kia Forte start with an 8-inch touch screen, a four-speaker stereo, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The EX adds satellite radio and two USB ports, and the GT offers the option for a Harman Kardon stereo system, wireless charging, and a 4.2-inch color information screen for the driver.
Safety Features
Standard safety features in the 2021 Forte include advanced driver aids such as forward collision warning, driver attention monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Stepping up to the GT Line adds perimeter approach lighting, automatic high beam headlights, lane-change assist, and a blind-spot monitor with rear-cross traffic alert. The GT model offers the GT2 Package with adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, and the forward-collision warning system with pedestrian detection.
