New 2017 Kia Optima at Dulles Kia for Frederick, MD
The Kia Optima is a comfortable, family-friendly sedan. Last year, it received a full remodel, so for 2017 there are small changes made that really add on to the new design. There are a wealth of new packages, including Driver Convenience and Premium Plus. There are LED headlights to replace former xenon headlights as well. The 2017 Kia Optima brings a lot to the table as a large sedan. Expanding package options allow you as a buyer to pick and choose the needs you have and find the perfect Optima to match. As for price, you'll be struggling to find better value with a lower cost-the Optima is competitively priced, and in upper trim levels, you'll be lucky to find another sedan with as many deluxe features without breaking into the luxury market. A spacious cabin and a large trunk add even more value.
Under the Optima's Hood
There are five different powertrains available for the 2017 Kia Optima. In LX and EX models, you'll find a base engine-a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. It's capable of 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, which is more than enough to carry the Optima pleasantly. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission; fuel economy with this powertrain is rated at 24 mpg city/34 mpg highway. In the LX 1.6T model, you'll find an alternative 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, rated at 178 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine is coupled with a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. Fuel economy in the LX 1.6T is rated at an impressive 28 mpg city/37 mpg highway. Beneath the hood of SX and SXL models, you'll find a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder capable of 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Its powertrain is completed by another six-speed automatic, but this one is paired with steering-wheel-mounted paddles for a sporty feel. Fuel economy for these trims is 22 city/31 highway. Additionally, there are two hybrid powertrains (traditional hybrid and hybrid plug-in) that both offer 40 mpg or more in fuel economy.
